Chief Ronald A. Ricucci of the Takoma Park Police Department announces the arrests of three male juveniles, ages 15, 16 and 17, all from Hyattsville, Maryland, for 1st degree burglary, 3rd degree burglary, rogue and vagabond, trespassing, truancy and conspiracy to commit 1st and 3rd degree burglaries.  Two of the juveniles were also charged with making false statements to a police officer.

On January 3, 2012, Takoma Park Police responded to the 7100 block of 13th Avenue for reports of three males walking in the rear yard of a residence.  Officers arrived to find one of the juveniles banging on the door of a residence.  Officers gave the juvenile commands to sit on the steps to which he ignored and attempted to flee on foot on the foot path leading towards New Hampshire Avenue.  A brief foot chase ensued.  The juvenile was observed by another officer at the dead end of 13th Avenue and pursued him across six travel lanes of New Hampshire Avenue where he was eventually taken into custody without incident.  The juvenile was transported to the Department of Juvenile Services.  Inspection of the exterior of the residence revealed an open storage room.  The other two juveniles were located sitting inside the room.  They were taken into custody, arrested and charged accordingly.  They were then released to the custody of their respective parents.
