Vandalism Discovered to School in Bethesda
Crime

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police 2nd District are investigating vandalism that was discovered July 16th to an area middle school and to vehicles parked in the neighborhood near the school.

Early this morning, school security officers responded to North Bethesda Middle School located at 8935 Bradmoor Drive in Bethesda, for an active alarm.  They discovered vandalism to the school and contacted police.  At approximately 2:40 this morning, 2nd District officers responded to begin an investigation.  They found an ethnically-offensive word, a sexually-descriptive drawing, and several initials painted on the outside of the building.  They also found several windows had been broken.  As the investigation continued, they discovered that seven vehicles on Beech Avenue had paint on them, and one vehicle had the same ethnically-offensive word painted on it.

Detectives in the 1st District Investigative Section are currently investigating vandalism to Herbert Hoover Middle School located at 8810 Postoak Road in Potomac that occurred between 3:30 p.m. on July 13 and 9:45 a.m. on July 14.  The extensive vandalism to that school included painted images of a sexual nature and hate-based language.

At this preliminary stage of the recent vandalism investigation it is believed that the two incidents may be related due to the similar nature of the vandalism at both schools.
